Meet Our Board of Directors
Allyson has spent the past two decades working to ensure equity education and housing. She has served as a classroom teacher, a university professor, consultant and has several years of experience in non-profit management. Allyson brings a personal love of nutrition, wellness and fitness, and decades of work empowering families to her board service at WeViva. A fluent Spanish speaker, Allyson holds a bachelors degree in Latin American Studies from The University of Texas at Austin and a masters degree in Organization Development from Johns Hopkins University. To stay fit, Allyson loves doing just about anything outside, especially hiking with her family and friends.
Darshana brings to WeViva a decade of healthcare investment strategy, management and consulting experience. Building on her degree in Economics and African American Studies, Darshana was Director of Research at the NY-based investment firm Mehta Partners, where she consulted, researched and invested in the global Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical industries. She is excited to leverage her expertise to support WeViva’s principle of meeting people “where they are” and drive forward its bold mission of eliminating barriers to wellness. Darshana has lived in Austin for the past ten years and loves to hike and have dance parties with her family and take neighborhood walks with her friends.
Kendra is an expert in health and wellness and loves helping others discover their passions for living a healthy lifestyle. Kendra is the Wellness Specialist for The University of Texas System Administration where she implements wellness programs for the improvement and maintenance of employee health, and to ultimately reduce health care spending. With a love for fitness, Kendra knows that healthy activity habits can ignite commitment to a wellness lifestyle and is thrilled to be part of the WeViva Board. Kendra loves running, dancing, 80’s workout gear and visiting family and friends.
AARON M. CLAY
Aaron M. Clay, Marketing and Communications Director at Amy’s Ice Creams, has been a member of the Executive Leadership team for five years. He has taken a pivotal role in the advancement of open-book management inside Amy’s Ice Creams. In addition to leading the company game as a coach, he has co-created an internal education class called Amy’s Guide to Open-Book Management. Aaron created an internship program that encourages continuous engagement and provides a fresh perspective from students. Aaron utilizes his passion for communications to connect the story behind the numbers to meaning and the meaning to action.
A recent transplant to Austin (via Boston), Steven currently leads the IT risk and control function at Whole Foods Market. Prior to joining Whole Foods, Steven worked in management consulting at Deloitte, helping public and private sector organizations with the design and implementation of internal controls, risk mitigation strategies and corporate governance. While at Deloitte, Steven enjoyed the opportunity to live and work abroad in both the Cayman Islands and Canada. Steven is excited to join the WeViva Board as Treasurer and share his expertise. Outside of work, Steven enjoys live music and exploring Austin with his wife Susan and dog Sebastian.
Kelley’s 10+ years of nonprofit fundraising experience includes development positions at the University of Texas as well as local start ups and a California-based education nonprofit. She recently left the nonprofit sector to launch her own clothing boutique business, but she volunteers in the Austin community and is especially passionate about WeViva’s mission to make fitness and nutrition accessible to everyone. Kelley’s favorite ways to stay fit include spinning, weight training, tennis and chasing after her 3 year old and 5 year old.
A native Austinite, Kristen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Master of Public Affairs degree with a specialization in nonprofit and philanthropic studies from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at UT. She previously was the Executive Director of Austin Smiles – The Austin Plastic Surgery Foundation, and prior to that ran her own nonprofit consulting firm. Kristen is currently the CEO of Pease Park Conservancy. She is also a certified yoga instructor (RYT 200) and enjoys practicing yoga and running. Kristen and her husband Ian have two young children, Holden and Georgia.
